Game of Thrones‘ Maisie Williams has talked about the relationship between her character and Gendry.
Williams stars as Arya Stark, the youngest Stark daughter in the HBO series, who forms a bond with Gendry (Joe Dempsie).
When asked by Vulture if Arya and Gendry could become more than just friends, Williams said: “In the second season, they wanted me to hint at it a little bit. I think she does kind of… I mean, I don’t know if she’s old enough to really know what it is she’s feeling, but she knows she really cares about this guy.”
She added: “I think it’s possible, definitely! Everyone always sees Arya as a tomboy, but she’s never been in that situation before. She’s never had a crush. Now she realises what’s Sansa’s talking about. She’s just not really quite sure what it is.”
Williams also said that she’ll miss working with Dempsie, as Arya is no longer travelling with Gendry.
The young actress previously shared that Arya needs to stay on her own in future seasons of the popular series.
Game of Thrones airs on HBO in the US and on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Finally, after all this time of not knowing who his father was, Gendry discovered on last Sunday’s Game of Thrones what the audience has known all along: He is the bastard son of the late King Robert Baratheon. (And technically, more of an heir to the throne than the incest-bred Joffrey.) “Haven’t you ever wondered where your strength came from?” Melisandre asked Gendry as they sailed past King’s Landing. “Your talent for fighting? Why do you think the Gold Cloaks wanted you?” Of course, she’s not looking for Gendry to take the Iron Throne — she’s a Stannis supporter — and when she tells Gendry “there is power in a king’s blood,” she’s thinking about her own supply. Joe Dempsie, who plays Gendry, chatted with Vulture about who he thinks should be king, Arya-Gendry shipping, and fans who write songs.
Even if you were a reader of the books, you might still be surprised by Gendry’s story line. It seems like he’s been merged with Edric Storm now.
Yeah! Do you like that they’ve strayed from the Gendry story line? It must be nice for you guys to be wrong-footed sometimes, and not know precisely where it’s going to go at various stages. I think it’s a testament to Dan [Weiss] and David [Benioff], that they know which story lines are sacred and which ones can be played with, to make it more interesting. And it’s great for me, obviously, because I get more to do. There wasn’t that much high drama when it came to Gendry in the books, but on TV there is, so I’m happy.

Game Of Thrones star Joe Dempsie will star in the forthcoming production of Brad Birch’s Even Stillness Breathes Softly Against A Brick Wall at the Soho theatre.
Best known for his role as Gendry in the popular HBO series, Dempsie’s on screen credits also include the first two series of E4 teen drama Skins, supernatural horror The Fades, British sports film The Damned United and BBC2’s one-off crime drama Murder.
Dempsie will be joined in Nadia Latif’s production by his Murder co-star Lara Rossi whose on screen credits include Crossing Lines, The Shadow Line and Life Of Crime. Rossi has also appeared on stage in productions including 13 and Emperor And Galilean, both at the National Theatre, and Women, Power And Politics at the Tricycle theatre.
Playing from 28 May (press night 30 May) to 14 June at the Soho theatre’s upstairs space, Even Stillness Breathes Softly Against A Brick Wall, which is billed as “a visceral examination of urban living and human existence spiralling out of control”, charts the turbulent descent of two individuals whose lives are an orchestra of alarm clocks, traffic lights, emails, credit cards, phone calls and meetings, meetings, meetings.
